‘The overall theme is one of soft femininity and curvaceousness, a sensual space where the owner will want to linger, further fostered by the banks of glazing offering harbour vistas from the bath. Natural light also flows freely through a skylight poised above the bath.’

We often find ourselves encouraging clients to move out of their comfort zone, which was the case with this project. Initially, the owners wanted a new kitchen, but we gently persuaded them that it was worth redesigning the whole ground floor of the Federation house, to make it open-plan, which would be more conducive to their lifestyle. In doing so we made sure we retained original features and the sense of proportion that the clients had always admired about the house.

The brief for the ensuite led to a rethink of the relationship between bathroom and bedroom. The bathroom’s key fittings, sculptural in nature, are on show in the bedroom and shared decorative elements link the two rooms.
